What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a hands-on manual therapy that includes craniosacral, muscle energy and myofascial work and well as joint mobilizations and other soft tissue techniques to help individuals achieve optimal health.

These appointments are designed to take patients through an in-depth assessment & provide an individualized treatment that can include a wide variety of manual therapy techniques including muscle energy, soft tissue and myofascial release, low velocity joint mobilizations (if indicated), and cranial sacral techniques for total body balancing.

Helpful for a wide range of ailments such as: headaches, neck & back pain, scar restrictions, stress, sleep, digestive complaints, etc

Dr. Meg is both a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner.

Dr. Meg's approach to healing emphasizes nourishing all aspects of wellbeing through individualized treatment plans that are collaborative, empowering, and compassionate. As an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner she provides hands on manual therapy and provides care to people of all ages with a wide variety of concerns but has a special interest in women’s health.

NOVA SCOTIA ASSOCIATION OF OSTEOPATHS (MANUAL PRACTICE) MEMBERS’ STATEMENT:

  • Megan Wakeham is a member in good standing of the Nova Scotia Association of Osteopaths (NSAO)
  • As a member of the NSAO, Megan Wakeham is not an Osteopathic Physician, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO, formerly Doctor of Osteopathy), nor does she practice Osteopathic Medicine
  • In Nova Scotia, Osteopathic Manual Practice is not regulated by the government, however the NSAO is actively seeking government regulation to protect the public and our profession
  • Osteopathic Manual Practitioners are not members of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)
